Description

The Essentials EC Meter is a digital handheld device designed for hydroponic growers to measure the electrical conductivity (EC) of nutrient solutions. It helps fine-tune nutrient strength for optimal plant growth by assessing dissolved salts and ions. Key Features LCD display shows EC readings, with automatic temperature compensation for accuracy. Electrodes protected by a slotted shroud; dips directly into solutions for quick use (stable reading in about 20 seconds). Some models store up to 10 past readings, offer water/shock resistance, low battery alerts, and simple calibration. How It Works Dip the probe into the nutrient solution, stir gently, and wait for the beep or stabilization. Readings are in EC units (multiply by 10 for CF conversion); high EC indicates more dissolved salts. Common Uses Ideal for hydroponics, aquaponics, and water quality checks like irrigation salinity. Normal tap water EC ranges 30–2000 µS/cm.
